B. Mark Fong is a trial lawyer with 25 years experience who has obtained large verdicts and settlements litigating and trying cases in 29 counties throughout California, in both State and Federal Court. He prosecutes and defends a wide range of civil litigation matters, including business disputes and catastrophic personal injury. Mark's practice area includes business litigation, wrongful death, medical and other professional malpractice, product liability, premises liability, motor vehicle, construction accident and defect, negligence, and insurance defense. His clients include attorneys, private individuals, businesses, public entities, utilities, insurance companies, product manufacturers, hospitals and other health care providers, and contractors.
Mark's diverse cases include breach of contract, fraud, and insurance bad faith; automobile, trucking, aviation, construction, elevator, crane, jet ski, and scuba diving accidents; defective medical devices, drugs, and other products; toxic mold; suits against general contractors and subcontractors for construction defect; suits against public entities for violation of civil rights and dangerous conditions of public property; wrongful denial of benefits under ERISA; and medical malpractice arbitrations against Kaiser Hospital/Permanente Medical Group.
He is rated "AV" by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, signifying the highest level of legal ability and professional standards of ethics. He is also listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers for 2006 for high professional legal standards and ethics.
Mark is a third generation San Franciscan. He received his B.A. in Political Science with high honors in 1978 from the University of California Berkeley, and his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law in 1981. In law school, he served as an extern to Justice Winslow Christian of the First District California Court of Appeal. Mark was admitted to the California Bar in 1981 and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
